Stimulants are compounds that increase energy and awareness.
Xanthines (primarily caffeine) are used to temporarily relieve feelings of fatigue, while eugeroics are used to relieve chronic drowsiness.

Stimulants are not traditionally considered nootropic. They are not used to increase normal functioning, but instead to maintain normal function when fatigued.

Caffeine is found in several foods and beverages: Cocoa, tea, coffee, and soda.
Pills are cheap, readily available at numerous stores, and provide a consistent level of caffeine. Remember to only use proper dosage / No more than the recommended dose.

Modafinil

A eugeroic used to treat narcolepsy and other excessive sleep disorders by promoting wakefulness in addition to a simple "upping."

Adrafinil

Forms modafinil when metabolized within the body and has similar effects to modafinil, although they are delayed and weakened so a higher dose is usually required.
Adrafinil can cause liver damage among other issues, it should only be used for a short period of time.
